LKAB's Visitor Centre

The mine in Kiruna is the world’s largest underground iron-ore mine. It is a fascinating operation where the ore is mined far below the surface using remotely operated machines and driverless trains. One of the best attractions in Sweden, the LKAB’s Visitor Centre, is located here – a show mine that the Lonely Planet international guide book gave its highest rating.

We celebrate 40 years!

SNOW FESTIVAL

When the January sun returns to Kiruna after a long, dark and not infrequently cold winter, it is always together with Sweden’s absolute coziest winter event – Kiruna Snow Festival. As the festival has its 40th anniversary, the idea is to, in addition to the snow sculpture competition and snow playland in the middle of the city, also offer fun competitions in typical local disciplines such as dog sled races and kick sled races.
