SELECTION PROCESS
Teams are selected by an admission committee. Selection is based on artistic quality, originality, and feasibility of the proposed design.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must submit:
* Completed application form
* Team details and contact information
* Written description of the sculpture concept
* Sketch or model of the proposed sculpture (PDF, JPG or DOC, max 20 MB)
* Photos or video documentation of previous work

The organizer reserves the right to publish photos and videos of the artworks and artists for promotional purposes.

JUDGING AND AWARDS

Jury’s Choice – 10,000 SEK
A jury will be selected by the Executive Committee and will judge based on the following:
* Technical Skill - utilization of materials, excellence in execution and presentation.
* Creativity – originality of design, spirit or message of the piece, form, rhythm and balance.
* Expressive Impact – visual and aesthetic impact on the viewer.
* Adherence to the Original Submission – faithfulness to the original design submission.

If an issue needs to be addressed regarding these rules, a jury consisting of the executive committee will make the final decision. Majority will rule.

People’s Choice – 5,000 SEK
The public votes for their favorite sculpture during the festival.

WHAT THE FESTIVAL PROVIDES
* Flights Stockholm–Kiruna–Stockholm
* Hotel accommodation near the event site
* All meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) for your stay at the festival.
* Ground transportation to and from Kiruna Snow Festival.
* Local hosts - a member of the festival staff will help teams with things that are not related to carving. Two hosts from the local art community will be part of the festival as support for all artists.

RULES AND REGULATIONS
Each team will be provided with one snow block measuring 3 x 3 x 3 meters. The entire block must be used and sculpted on all sides. Sculptures may not be expanded beyond the original dimensions. Teams will be allowed to use additional snow from around the event site.
Only snow, water and ice may be used. Ice may only be used as an embellishment and not as a dominant material. All work must occur at the event site. A freezer or any mechanized cooling is not allowed. No colorants, armatures, supports or additional materials are permitted. Artists may not tie off or lean anything against any of the lighting towers, including tarps and tools.
Only hand tools are allowed. No power tools or mechanized measuring devices may be used. Some basic tools (saws, buckets, knives, shovels etc.) will be provided, but teams are advised to bring their own tools.
Only the two registered team members may sculpt the block. Local hosts may assist with logistics but may not touch the sculpture. Sculpting can only take place during designated sculpting hours and must occur at the event site.
All sculptures must be original works and may not have been created or exhibited in other competitions.

TRAVEL STIPEND
Teams may apply for a travel stipend to support travel from their home country. Requested costs must be specified in the application. The stipend is not guaranteed and cannot be requested after the fact.

RESPONSIBILITY AND INSURANCE
Each participant must have a personal insurance. The organizer is not responsible for any theft, loss, or any damage to the participant’s property. The organizer cannot be held responsible for any injuries to participants or in case of the participants death. Any infraction of the regulations by any team member will lead to disqualification.
