Think sustainable, choose the train

For those of you who want to take the train to Kiruna, there are several possibilities. If you travel from Stockholm, you can choose to sleep a part of the trip on board Vy’s night train. The night train operates between Stockholm and Narvik and has two departures daily. If you want to travel during the day, it is possible to travel with Norrtåg, which has several departures from Sundsvall in the south to Kiruna in the north.

On the night train, sustainability and the experience are in focus. Vy’s train takes you between Stockholm and Narvik with the least possible environmental impact. You get on, go to bed and sleep and wake up in another city. Enjoy locally produced options in the restaurant and sleep comfortably in the compartment. For those of you who want to experience the beautiful views, or alternatively spend a few hours in front of the computer, a sleeping area can be combined with a seat for the best comfort.

Discounted prices are offered to you who travel with children or if you yourself are a youth/student.

Until 14 December you can book the night train from Stockholm to Kiruna with Vy. From 15 December the night trains between Stockholm-Luleå-Kiruna-Narvik will be operated by SJ.

From 15 December the night trains between Stockholm-Luleå-Kiruna-Narvik will be operated by SJ. On their website you can search for trips and buy tickets with all companies including bus.

Train tickets must be purchased in advance and can therefore not be purchased at Kiruna train station or onboard the train.

Kiruna train station

On the 31st of August 2013, the old train station in Kiruna was closed and at the same time a new, temporary station was opened. The current train station is located about 6 km from the city centre.

The station building is adapted for the disabled and there is also access to a toilet. The station building is unmanned and there is no possibility to buy food or coffee.

Kiruna station is open 05.30-21.00 every day.
7 day free parking is available in connection to the train station.

To and from the train station

Transfer bus

There are free shuttle buses between the bus station in the old city centre, the new city centre and the train station, in connection with all train arrivals and departures. The bus drives every day, year round.
