Midnattssurret | Gaskaijašurra | Keskiyön Surina
Festival in Karesuando!
A festival for everyone who isn’t anywhere else on Midsummer’s Eve. There’ll be music, competitions, a market and plenty of other excitement.
Midnattssurret is Sweden’s northernmost festival, bringing people together across national borders for a true cultural celebration featuring Sami, Tornedalian, Swedish, Finnish and Norwegian artists. Some of this summer’s artists include: Myra Granberg, Waldo’s People, Movits! and the local band Mollet.
In addition to evening concerts, we have a traditional Midsummer celebration on Friday and a packed, free daytime programme on Saturday, including: A market with duojárat, local craftspeople and street vendors. A pentathlon with secret events testing local skills, to crown the most industrious villagers (city dwellers are welcome to compete too!). Sweden’s largest commercial lasso-throwing competition. Children’s activities with games, competitions and theatre. A youth concert and open stage in the area.
When: Friday 19 June – Sunday 21 June
Where: Karesuando
