Drive your own team over frozen rivers and through mountain forest!

Our dog sled tours are a bit different from the majority. You will notice this when it’s time to head out with our sleds. Surrounded by 40 huskies and all you can hear is the wind blowing through the sparkling winter landscape. You will learn how to handle the dogs in our way, where energies and meditation are
important elements. Before we get off you get a proper driving lesson. Two people share a team of 4-6 dogs and take turns driving. Tension and concentration in driving, in perfect combination with sitting relaxed and enjoying nature from the sled.

Back at the kennel, we invite everyone to help massaging the dogs. This is a great way to meet our, and the dogs’ needs and the best way of cuddling. After the massage we invite you for warm soup around our kitchen table that invites conversation about life in this Arctic environment before we head back to town.

PROGRAM
Pick up and transfer in Kiruna or ICEHOTEL. In 40 minutes we drive from Kiruna to our kennel. We drive along the beautiful Kalix river, which is one of the largest river systems in Europe that has not been exploited for hydroelectric purposes. On clear days we can even see the beautiful mountain range hosting Sweden’s tallest mountain, Kebnekaise. The chances to see moose are high as we pass through the moose’s winter grazing land.

The tour
We start by giving you a proper driving instruction and teach you how to best interact with our dogs. We drive with the dogs over frozen swamps, through mountain forests and over the ice-covered Kalix river. The river is an important route for many migratory birds, and it is also an important reproduction area for salmon and trout. Although this is a remote area people have made their living here from fishing and reindeer herding for hundreds of years. We have groomed trails but as we are surrounded by mountains, the weather and conditions can change quickly. This contributes to the authentic experience. Naturally, we guide you safely through any weather conditions.
