Lávvu

In our traditional lávvu, you’ll enjoy an accommodation experience close to nature, with our reindeer as your nearest neighbours. The experience takes you back to the nomadic era, when we moved with our reindeer between summer and winter pastures and lived in lávvus.

A lávvu is a traditional Sámi tent consisting of several poles and a tent canvas; the floor is covered with birch twigs and reindeer skins to sit and sleep on. In the centre is an árran – a hearth – which provides warmth and is used for cooking. In our lávvu, the hearth has been replaced by a wood-burning stove, and just like the traditional árran, it needs to be stoked throughout the night to keep it burning.
