Kiruna Samegård was started by the Sámi communities, the county labour board, LKAB, Kiruna municipality and the Church to provide accommodation for the Sámi people. There was a Sámi hostel, but it was too small. In 1973, this building was completed and is used by members (Sámi communities) and visitors for hotel operations and conferences.
Samegården offers conferences on the lower floor, which has a large kitchen with kitchenware and is the entrance to the reception and also offices for certain Sámi communities. There are two entrances for hotel guests; both are used during the day, but after office hours only one is used, where there is a key cabinet and guests are given a code for check-in.
There are seven rooms available for rent, both single and double. It is possible to opt out of breakfast and use the kitchen for light cooking and crockery.
In the basement, there is a museum run by the Sámi Association. There, you can follow Sámi history from the past to the present through descriptions of clothing, jewellery, tools, religion, and language.
