Kiruna Snow Festival
When the January sun returns to Kiruna after a long, dark and not infrequently cold winter, it is always together with Sweden’s absolute coziest winter event – Kiruna Snow Festival. In the middle of Kiruna’s city center, culture and winter come to life through this incredibly cozy festival.
During the Snow Festival, you as a visitor have the opportunity to participate in a broad program with a strong focus on culture, play, winter and family entertainment. But the highlight of the festival is the Kiruna International Snow Sculpture Competition. A competition that annually attracts artists from all over the world to Kiruna. Throughout the festival week, visitors have the opportunity to follow the artists’ work and see these fantastic works of art take shape.
In addition to the snow sculpture competition and snow playland in the middle of the city, the Snow Festival also offer fun competitions in typical local disciplines such as reindeer racing.
The festival is traditionally organized at the end of January during week 4. With the festival finale on Saturday.
The Snow Festival is the place where snow becomes art – and in 2026 we celebrate 41 years of play, music, winter sports, art, cold and snow.
