ICEHOTEL one of Sweden’s seven wonders

Located in the village of Jukkasjärvi dating from the 17th century is Sweden’s first and largest hotel of snow and ice. Every year since 1989, the icehotel has been built every December in a new version and then melted back into the mighty Torne River in April. Since 2017, there is ICEHOTEL365 which offers an ice experience for visitors all year round.

In a survey in which Swedes were allowed to vote on which buildings are to be crowned Sweden’s seven wonders, ICEHOTEL, together with, among others, Ringmuren in Visby and the Göta Canal, was named Sweden’s wonder.

The ice hotel in Jukkasjärvi took third place, where 24 percent of the respondents stated the unique hotel as their favorite among Swedish buildings.
