The beautiful tale of the adventures of young Clara and the Nutcracker Prince was transformed by Pyotr Tchaikovsky into the most popular classical ballet in the world in 1892. Today, the Nutcracker ballet has become a global Christmas tradition and is staged annually on theater and opera stages around the world. The universal language of dance is understandable to everyone without the need for translation – the scene tells the story of a girl’s fragile dream, the battle between good and evil where love wins.

Magical family classic
Dancing snowflakes, the Nutcracker Prince, toy soldiers and the Sugar Plum Fairy come to life in this magical family classic. Experience the fantastic adventure of little Clara as she goes to bed on Christmas Eve. She meets her prince, is confronted by a battle with larger-than-life rats and mice, and is transported to the sweet land of sweets. The story goes far beyond just a Christmas tale – it’s a story of growing up, which is also reflected in the dance.

Promotion of Ukrainian classical ballet art and Ukrainian artists
This production with the classical choreography of Marius Petipa will be performed by professional ballet dancers from Ukraine – winners of international ballet competitions, People’s Artists of Ukraine, as well as Ukrainian soloists and, since February 2022, also European theaters. The tour is presented by the Norwegian organization “Kultur for Folket” to support Ukrainian classical ballet art and Ukrainian artists who do not have the opportunity to perform in their homeland. The tour takes place in November and December in Norway, Sweden and Denmark. And on November 29, 19:00, it’s finally Kiruna’s turn!
