Join us for a 3-hour Arctic adventure in search of the northern lights. We meet at the Abisko.net reception, where your guide makes sure everyone is dressed warmly and ready for the evening. If the snow is deep, snowshoes are provided to make the walk easier and more fun.
Together with your guide – and a few of our playful huskie puppies – we wander through the snow-covered Abisko Valley under the Arctic sky. The hike is about 3 km roundtrip, following snowy trails and a gradual uphill section to reach our viewpoint. Along the way, we stop at scenic places, perfect for night photography. Your guide shares tips on how to capture the aurora when the conditions are right, and helps you make the most of the Arctic light and landscape.
We continue to a traditional lávvu (tipi tent), where you can warm up by the fire, enjoy a hot drink, and spend time with the puppies while keeping an eye on the sky. If the night is cold, you can move between the lávvu and the viewpoint, where another fire keeps both warmth and atmosphere alive.
Winter in Abisko can offer everything from crystal-clear, starry nights filled with light to strong winds and drifting snow. Whatever the weather, this is a genuine Arctic experience — perfect for anyone who wants to feel the magic of winter outdoors. When the time is right, we make our way back to the village, following the glow of our headlamps — and, with a bit of luck, beneath dancing northern lights.
